Take A Dip To Beat the Heat

From poolside gatherings to backyard barbecues, dips are the perfect accompaniment to elevate your summer snacking experience. 🤩

We love that dips are incredibly versatile and provide an opportunity to incorporate nutrient-rich ingredients into your diet.

The best dips begin with a creamy base blended with oil or another liquid. Add flavor boosters to add dimension, and finish by seasoning with fresh and dried herbs and spices, and your dip is complete. Here are some of our favorite combinations with healthy vehicles ideas:

#1: Chickpea Hummus:

The classic chickpea base is very versatile and can be made with any bean. Add tahini, garlic, lemon, and cumin to chickpeas for a traditional version. Variations include [but are not limited to] roasted red pepper, lemon kale, Moroccan carrot, roasted zucchini, kalamata olive, spicy sriracha, and creamy pesto.

#2: Guacamole

We love the healthy fats in avocados, but the calories can be intimidating. Cut the amount of avocado in half by adding defrosted edamame beans for added protein. Add some greens to keep your dip bright and fresh.

#3: Roasted Vegetables

Babaganoush is a combination of roasted eggplant, tahini, lemon, and garlic. Roasted vegetables that work well in dips are eggplant, butternut squash, cauliflower, zucchini, carrots, and peppers. Roasting them allows you to process vegetables until creamy.

#4: Healthy vehicles

  • Carrot chips or sticks

  • Cucumber chips

  • Broccoli or cauliflower

  • Green beans

  • Endive

  • Peppers

💡PRO TIP: In the summer opt for lighter and healthier options that keep you feeling refreshed and energized. For example, swap sour cream 🔄 with Greek yogurt, mayonnaise 🔄 with mashed avocado, or cheese 🔄 with nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor!
